Groups visits and tour parties are very welcome at Avebury and there are some steps you need to take before you visit.

We want everyone to have a fantastic experience here at Avebury and can accommodate your visit better if we know that you are coming.

Unfortunately, we have very limited parking available for coaches, mini-buses and large vehicles and these become filled very quickly.

We advise that, if at all possible, you plan to visit during the mid-week rather than weekends and avoid peak holiday periods.

Please contact our Visitor Services team via avebury@nationaltrust.org.uk to let us know that you're coming.

Whilst we cannot guarantee a space in the car park we can advise you on where to drop off visitors and collect them should a space not be available.

Guided commercial tours

Any organised activity, guided tour or commercial event on National Trust land at Avebury or the surrounding landscape requires permission in the form of a licence from the National Trust.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Organised guided tours

  • Running / walking events

  • Sporting events

  • Workshops (painting, drumming, yoga, etc.)

  • Fundraising activities

Notification of at least one month before the proposed date of the event or activity is required.

If you would like to discuss getting a licence to run a commercial tour or event at Avebury, please contact avebury@nationaltrust.org.uk

Who is eligible for free entry?

Registered tourist board guides (on production of a valid badge), coach drivers and tour leaders escorting groups of 15 or more are eligible for free entry.

National Trust members also receive free entry, so it is at your discretion whether to refund the entrance fee to members if you have included it in your package – this is not refunded by the National Trust.

Members must bring their current membership cards with them to avoid paying the full group rate.

If any of your group would like to join the National Trust, please direct them to our Membership page or call 0344 800 1895.

Free familiarisation visits for group leaders

If you are planning a group visit you can request our free Travel Trade Pass and you and a friend or colleague will gain free entry to over 300 of our places throughout England, Wales, and Northern Ireland for 12 months.

There is nothing quite like seeing or experiencing somewhere for yourself to help you plan a successful visit.

To receive your pass, call 0344 800 2329 or email us at NTTravelTrade@capita.co.uk.
