Adult Wood Carving Workshop
Guided by expert woodworker, TouchWood experiment with traditional wood carving techniques to create a fan bird.
- Booking essential
- Admission applies
In this practical workshop you will learn traditional wood carving techniques to carve your very own wooden fan bird. The fan bird survives as a piece of folk art and a reminder of those older ways of living close to the forest, where a simple block of wood could be transformed into a blessing.
With step-by-step instructions and demonstrations, you'll be guided through each stage of shaping to form a three dimensional bird design.
Set in Brockhampton’s beautiful courtyard, this relaxed session offers the perfect setting to slow down, carve, and create. You’ll head home with your finished fan bird, traditionally hung in homes or given as a thoughtful handmade gift.
No previous experience is required. Suitable for all abilities.
£40 per person, includes a hot drink. Normal admission applies for non-members. Booking is essential.
