This thoughtfully curated recital by renowned cellist Corinne Frost and distinguished pianist Clare Toomer explores the rich musical landscape that helped shape Elgar’s own distinctive voice. Featuring works by Beethoven, Dvořák, Fauré, Parry, Purcell and Schumann—composers whose craftsmanship, lyricism, and harmonic imagination Elgar greatly admired—the programme offers a fascinating window into the influences that resonated deeply with him throughout his life.

The performance will be complemented by illuminating commentary from Richard Westwood-Brookes, who will reflect on Elgar’s personal connection to these composers and the role they played in inspiring his musical development.
