Side Quest: Sensory Walk at Beningbrough
Join sound artist Gaia Blandina and eco-poet Bryony Aitchinson on a guided sensory walk around the gardens
- Booking essential
- Admission applies
As part of their collaborative research project Side Quests: Transdisciplinary Walks in North Yorkshire at the University of York, sound artist Gaia Blandina and eco-poet Bryony Aitchison invite you to take part in a guided sensory walk around Beningbrough's gardens.
Participants will be encouraged to tune into their creativity and connect with the rhythms and repetitions of the landscape using listening, movement, and interactive prompts.
Inspired by the creative process and sculptural willow loops of artist Laura Ellen Bacon, whose work is featured in the latest exhibition, the walk invites participants to encounter both visual and sonic shapes – to enter a dream-like state by noticing and gathering loops, patterns, and textures in the environment.
About the walk leaders: Bryony Aitchison is a poet and postdoctoral researcher at the University of York. Her research explores queer gardens in modernist women’s writing, and she has forthcoming poems in Seedlings magazine.
Gaia Blandina is a cellist and sound artist exploring theory-practice interrelations through interdisciplinary work, weaving music, sound, and visual art with collaboration, improvisation, and transdisciplinary, site-specific research.
