Join us on a guided walk that uncovers the story of the rocks and roots shaping the Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal estate.

From ancient stone formations to the living roots, discover how these geological giants have carved the scenery, inspired the buildings, and nourished the plants around the abbey.

The basics

Meeting point

Meet your guide at Porters Lodge, a 10 minute walk from the Visitor Centre, 5 minutes from the West Gate entrances and 30 minutes from the Studley ticket office.

What to bring and wear

Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear.

Accessibility

This walk is suitable for mobility scooters, wheelchairs and prams. There is ramp access through the abbey.
