Close to York Minster, is the large city centre shop. Drop-in as part of your visit to Treasurer's House, or whenever you're in the city. With unique ranges and local artisan produce, your purchases support the conservation work of the charity.

A short walk around the corner from Treasurer’s House is the York city centre shop with views of York Minster, at 32 Goodramgate. Like Treasurer’s House, it was donated to the National Trust in 1930 by Frank Green and rather than squeeze into a space in the house, it's a large airy building, perfect for perusing.

The friendly team are on hand if you need inspiration and National Trust vouchers or membership make a superb option.

Retail inspiration...

This is just a hint at some of the items available. New deliveries and seasonally changing ranges mean it's always worth dropping in when you're in York. Look out for 'Meet the maker' days to discover more about the local artisan products and maybe try a few samples.

A unique and historic building

The building has been used as a National Trust shop since 1969 - that's over 55 years of serving the local community and visitors to the city. Outwardly not much has changed beyond a few paint colours, however the inside is bright and modern, and products change with fashions and customer interests.

The archway at the front of the building once formed one of four entrances to the York Minster precinct. There are still timbers dating back to the late 12th century. This is the last remaining precinct entrance left standing today and an important reminder of York's heritage.

Thank you

It is through your purchases and support that we are able to continue to care for nature, beauty and history for everyone, for ever.

If you're looking for second-hand books...

In the below stairs area of Treasurer's House, next to the café, are book shelves with donations of pre-loved books. It's the perfect virtuous circle, peruse and pick one out if you're having a brew. When you've found something you like, leave your donation and take it home for your next read.

If and when you're having a book clear out yourself, donate back for onward sale. All donations support the work of the National Trust, including looking after the places in our care in York.

The perfect holiday location?

Did you know, there are three holiday apartments in York city centre, owned and managed by the National Trust. Two of these are located above the shop, and you can't get much more central for a mini-break exploring York's many attractions and restaurants. Take a look at Minstergate and Draper's Flat on the National Trust holiday website to plan a mini-break.
