Picnicking at Barrington Court

Visitors enjoying a picnic by the moat at Barrington Court

Deep in the heart of rural south Somerset, with honey coloured ham stone architecture and bountiful gardens, summer is a perfect time to visit Barrington Court. There's lots of variety with splendid gardens, orchard areas, and lush countryside where you can relax and enjoy a picnic.

Take your pick of picnic sites

It’s all here for you to dip into, in your own way and in your own time, to make the most of the summer. The flower gardens are truly glorious, the lawns are a swathe of emerald green grass set against rolling Somerset countryside, the orchards are full of wild plants and emerging fruit, and there's a perfect spot for every one to find.

Once you've found the ideal location you're welcome to spread out your picnic rug and spend as much time as you like watching the trees casting patterns of dappled shade on the grass or reading a book with your toes in the grass.

A favourite site is the sweeping south lawn. Enjoy a sense of space and freedom while you take in the views of the surrounding parkland or try out the traditional lawn games.

Please note that gazebos and tents are not allowed and remember to take your rubbish with you as you leave - it helps keep this place looking beautiful.
