Strode dining and tearoom

Barrington Court Strode dining room

It’s a real treat to have morning coffee, lunch or tea in the afternoon right in the heart of this special place – in some of the rooms where the Lyle family used to do the very same.

The warm, wood-panelled wren room with its cosy sofas and views over the south lawn and parkland beyond is comfortable and inviting; the Strode dining room is elegant and atmospheric with its impressive fireplaces, high ceiling and wonderful views of the lily garden and water court. In warmer weather you can also enjoy an al fresco experience: there are tables and chairs just outside, and we have a selection of picnic blankets you’re welcome to use on the lawn.

The menu changes regularly to reflect what’s in season and growing in the kitchen garden. There are always gluten-free and vegetarian options, and we’re happy to accommodate special requests wherever possible – just ask a member of the team! Each table is numbered, so when you’re ready, simply place your order at the till and our team will bring it to you. Everything is made from scratch in our kitchen by our talented chefs, so choose your seat and feast on fresh homemade food served by our friendly, attentive team.

There's a selection of light and main meal options, as well as a choice of freshly made sandwiches, cakes and scones. We also offer a varied drinks menu that includes our very own award-winning cider and apple juice.

We open at 10.30am for morning refreshments; lunch is served between 12 – 3pm, and tea and cakes are available all day until 4.45pm, when last orders are taken. Please note: unfortunately we’re unable to take bookings or reserve tables.

Every penny you spend in our restaurant helps us look after special places like Barrington Court – for ever, for everyone.
