When you see the huge stretch of green grass that reaches out to the boundary of the ha ha you’ve found the south lawn, a great place with space for everyone to play or relax on.
It's a summer of fun and games!
Giant sets of dominoes, skittles and quoits are waiting on the lawn for everyone to have a go at.
There’s a basket of picnic rugs that you’re welcome to use, while you visit, and a good selection of story books to amuse the youngsters too.
We’ve even got a plan to help you make the most of the weather conditions. From 23rd July, If the wind is blowing why not pick up a kite kit when you arrive at visitor reception, make it up and see how high you can get it to fly, there’s loads of room to run about.
If you’re feeling energetic and want a bit of fun there‘s a vintage tennis court tucked away behind a tall hedge, that the Lyle family used back in their day. The nets are up and the rackets and balls are all ready for a game, so feel free to get stuck in!
Then there’s the east orchard area to discover, see if you can find the rustic tree swing. It’s a place to do some of the ‘50’ things activities here too, like bird spotting, bug hunting, collecting fallen leaves or making a daisy chain. If you don’t already have a 50 things scrap book, just pop into visitor reception (in the car park) and pick one up, this is also where you collect your stickers to mark the activities you’ve completed. These are all things you can do any day of the week during the summer when you visit us, we hope you can come over soon.
It’s all about being playful, creative and imaginative this summer
