Join us with the family as we round off our celebration of the arrival of Spring this Bank Holiday Monday with a family fun day out at Sir Edward's Fair. For the rest of the holiday, there's the chance to brush up on your archery skills or take a walk with a bird of prey.

Join Sir Edward at his annual fair

On Monday 29 May Sir Edward Dallingridge invites you to join him at his annual fair to celebrate St. Augustine's Day.   There'll be plenty of local craft stalls and some fun games and activities.

This year, we'll be adding the magic of medieval music with well-known group, Portcullis, who'll be playing in the castle courtyard. Their tunes are quite foot-tapping and they'll be happy to lead you in a merry dance to celebrate the springtime.

Sir Edward will be circulating in the castle and grounds and he'll be more than happy to tell you about his magnificent castle.

  • Normal castle admission charges apply.
  • Separate charges are made for games and activities.

Weather permitting, experienced costumed falconers will be on hand each day to give visitors the chance to experience falconry at first hand. Take a walk with one of the birds and see how they fly and learn how they are used to hunt down other animals and birds.

  • £5 per walk
  • Charges payable directly to instructors
  • No need to pre-book
  • Weather permitting - we may need to curtail this activity in certain weather condtions.
