Looking for help caring for our countryside

Managing the countryside around Branscombe is a big job. Whether your green fingered or great at DIY, your skills will help the National Trust keep this stunning area in tip-top condition.
Hedge laying
Hedge laying is a traditional method of maintaining and regenerating hedgerows. This helps prolong the life of the hedge, create a stock proof boundary as well as improving wildlife habitats. All you need is a pair of wellies and some gloves and we’ll get you started.
Scrub clearance
Help us uncover the past – we're removing scrub from several hillforts and important grassland sites to help protect the archaeology and improve the habitat for wildflowers.
Coppicing
Help us see the wood for the trees. Coppicing is an historic woodland management technique which we use to help keep our ancient woodlands healthy and full of wildlife.
Workshop jobs
Good with your hands? Why not join us at our Branscombe workshop making benches, repairing gates, and refurbishing signs?
Helping with events
Are you a people person? If so, why not join our events team helping us run guided walks, kids crafts and rockpool rambles?
Strimming
This is just one of the activities that keeps us very busy in the spring and summer months. Miles of footpath and car parks need to be kept clear of over zealous nettles and brambles.
Installing gates and benches
For those that have good DIY skills we love to have you join us repairing and installing signage, gates, fences and benches. A really satisfying job; making a real difference to people's enjoyment of the countryside.
