1
Follow the path from the car park down Woodhuish Lane to Man Sands. Along this route you will pass a bird hide which is the perfect place to stop and look out over Man Sands wetland area, see the birds enjoying the wetland and find out more information about the wetland. The rangers are allowing a natural process to re-profile the beach and the lower valley which now floods - perfect for the many ducks and waders which use this area.
Winter bird spotting at Man Sands wetland area
Winter is a good time to see wild fowl on the wetland. Ducks and waders such as snipe, teal, shoveller duck, tufted duck and gadwall can all be seen from the bird hide.

2
From Man Sands beach, strike out on the coast path heading right, following signposts to Scabbacombe beach (approximately 1.5 miles). Enjoy the spectacular views and note Staddon Shales and Meadfoot Slates rocks, which regularly 'slump' onto the beach.
Wildflower habitats
Grazing is very important along the coast to help maintain the wildflower habitats which could easily become scrub in a short space of time. Dartmoor ponies and sheep graze along this stretch of the South West Coast Path.

3
From Scabbacobe beach head inland, following signs for Scabbacombe car park. This secluded beach is a popular spot with nudist bathers and dog walkers. Take care if swimming here as the currents are strong - don't use inflatables.
4
Head back down Woodhuish Lane until you reach Woodhuish Farm, which completes your circular walk.
Woodhuish cider press
Woodhuish was a working Victorian farm, and the cider press, which can be found in the barn like building, has been restored. The countryside team press apples on the cider press on the annual apple day. Cirl bunting, barn owls and bats can be seen here regularly.
