A Christmas make over

This December in the Ox Yard we have a Christmas tent which provides cosy seating with wooly blankets for everyone to enjoy.

Our fantastic volunteers led by Sue Allen have transformed the Guesthouse areas of Visitor Welcome and the restaurant by making natural decorations such as wreathes on the doors and traditional table centres.

Inspired by Tudor Christmas decorations our volunteer teams have made hundreds of dried orange slices which have been used to decorate window areas, trees and garlands.

Even our Ox has not escaped being decorated!

Toddler Tuesdays

Weekdays are a great time to visit Buckland with little ones if you are looking for a quieter experience.

With a childrens menu filled with tasty treats and light bite lunches, it is great place for a friends or family weekly get together.

With lots to do in the abbey from the Christmas star trail or toddler unicorn trail, there is something for everyone this Christmas.

Winter Tasty Treats

Dave the Head Chef at Buckland clearly followed in the footsteps of our very own famous sailors Sir Francis Drake and Richard Grenville and is an ex-serviceman in the Royal Navy.

Come along and enjoy a slice of Dave's very own secret, navy inspired Christmas cake recipe in the Ox Yard Restaurant.

Whats on the menu?

The Ox Yard restaurant offers light lunches which include, soups, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, paninis and salads.

We have a wide variety of cakes, including Buckland's very own apple cake inspired by the orchards and cider press in the Great Barn.

Money raised from the sale of our apple cake goes into looking after the woodlands here at Buckland.

Thank you to everyone who have bought a slice of cake, as you are helping to keep Buckland special forever.

Home Grown

We try to use as much produce grown in the kitchen garden as possible, so look out for dishes made with seasonal fruit and vegetables throughout the year.

Doggy Diner

Want to bring your four legged fur baby with you for a visit?

We are very dog friendly here at Buckland with all the estate walks open for dog walking throughout the year.

And after your walk you and your dog can head undercover into the doggy diner where you can enjoy a hot drink and food in the dry.

" Did you know? It would take over 6,000 cream teas to be sold to pay for repairs to 10 metres of the Cider House garden walls. Every sip, bite and crunch you take in the restaurant helps us to look after Buckland Abbey for the future. "
- Thank you
