All things nice

A bowl of soup at one of the National Trust's restaurants

Cup of coffee? Cream tea? Tasty hotpot? What tickles your fancy?

Whether it's a warming bowl of home made soup, a delicious hot chocolate or a slice of cake, no day out is complete without a yummy treat.

Refurbished in 2012, Buckland's bright and welcoming restaurant is decorated using colours drawn from the buildings and plants found around the abbey. Beautiful photos of the house, gardens and estate adorn the walls, mounted in apple crates - a reminder of the history of apple growing and pressing Buckland has seen. Warm up by the log burner in the colder months or enjoy the sunshine in the Ox Yard with an ice cream.

We try to use as much produce grown in the kitchen garden as possible, so look out for dishes made with seasonal fruit and vegetables throughout the year.

Don't forget your loyalty card too, and save up towards a free cup of tea or coffee. Why not make Buckland your new favourite place to come and catch up with friends - there's no charge to visit the restaurant even if you are not a member.

" Did you know? It would take over 6,000 cream teas to be sold to pay for repairs to 10 metres of the Cider House garden walls. Every sip, bite and crunch you take in the restaurant helps us to look after Buckland Abbey for the future. "
- Thank you

Functions

Unfortunately we do not host weddings here at Buckland, but we can cater for meetings or functions in our small barn, and dependent on events and timings, in the great barn too. Please call 01822 853706 to discuss your ideas with Sharon, Catering Manager.

Dine out

Looking for a special treat? Why not join us for a Dine Out evening? Call 01822 856041 to book your table.

Dogs

There is plenty of space to sit outside in the Ox Yard with your dog while you enjoy a cup of tea or some lunch. We supply water bowls to make sure your four legged friends are catered for too.

If you'd rather sit indoors, we've opened an additional indoor seating area next to the second hand bookshop this year where dogs are very welcome.
