The Great Barn at Buckland Abbey

Stars made by pupils from St Andrew's Primary School in the Great Barn at Buckland Abbey

Opening its doors from 1 December – 2 January (excluding 24-26 December), the Great Barn will be hosting a magical Christmas display.

This year, we’re working with local NAFAS groups once again as they bring the theme of Elizabethan Feast and Festivity to life.

Under a canopy of stars created by school children from St Andrew's Primary at Buckland Monachorum, nine beautiful arrangements using flowers and natural materials are being created to depict some popular tales often featured in Elizabethan masques.

Alongside Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, St George and the Dragon and Father Christmas and the Wassail Bowl, Father Christmas' 'children' feature in the floral displays, from Gambol and Carol to New Year's Gift and Minced Pie.

Once you have admired the Great Barn, you won't want to miss the decorated Abbey where the decorations continue thoughout the ground floor.
