Facilities and Parking on the Clent Hills

Wooden archway into the woodland at Clent, there is a carved head of woodsman and a carved figure of an owl on the top of each post.

The Clent Hills are a large area of open countryside on the outskirts of Birmingham. There are two car parks that serve the site, but only one location for facilities such as toilets.

Facilities

Most of the facilities on the Clent Hills are at the Nimmings Wood car park. There are toilets located here and a small outdoor tenated café (this is not run by the National Trust).

Behind the café and toilet building is the Natural Play Area and a small meadow suitable for a picnic. You are welcome to enjoy a picnic anywhere on the Hills; please just remember to take your rubbish away with you. We do not allow BBQ’s because of the fire risk.

The start of the Easy Access path can also be found at the Nimmings Wood car park along with some disabled parking spaces.

Parking

Nimmings Wood Car Park, on Hagley Wood Lane. Use postcode B62 0NL for your sat nav.

Nimmings Wood Car Park is the main car park for the Clent Hills. It is open every day except Christmas Day, from 9am-5pm March-October and 9am-4pm November-February. Outside of these times, the car park is locked and there is no out-of-hours service available to release your vehicle should it get locked in.

There is a Welcome Desk at the car park, where you can find information about walks, pick up a children’s trail, or even take out National Trust membership.

Nimmings Wood is a pay and display car park. There is a charge of £3 for the whole day, free for National Trust members – please remember to bring your membership cards with you to scan in the machine.

We ask visitors not to park on the road outside of the Nimmings Wood car park. The road is very narrow and it can make it difficult for emergency vehicles to access the site. If you would like to park for free or outside of the car park opening hours, please use our other car park.

Walton Hill Car Park, on Walton Hill Road. The postcode of B62 0NQ is not very accurate with a sat nav and it is best to use the road name.

The car park at Walton Hill is open all day, every day of the year and is free of charge for all visitors.

There are no facilities at this car park, and it is approximately a 10 minute walk (0.5 miles) along the road to the café and toilets at Nimmings Wood car park. If you do come over to Nimmings Wood, feel free to scan your membership card on the machine as this will benefit the Clent Hills.

Coach Parking

Coach parking is only avaliable at Walton Hill car park. It is free to use and there is plenty of room for dropping off and parking up.

Nimmings Wood car park is not suitable for coach parking due to restricted road access and no turning space. Please do not drop off outside of Nimmings Wood car park as this will block the public road.

Minibuses can park at Nimmings Wood car park for a cost of £3 per day.
