Eskdale Campsite site rules

Arrival times

Please check in at reception before pitching during the following hours:

Arrival time for all forms of accommodation is after 2pm. The departure time for all is 10am. Please ensure that you pitch at least 6m from fellow campers.

Monday - Thursday: 9am - 5pm, Friday: 9am - 7pm, Saturday 9am- 6pm, Sunday: 8am - 5pm

Please note that during the day we will be closed between 11am and 2pm to undertake cleaning and maintenance.

Winter hours are generally 8am – 5pm all week but these times can vary and will be updated on the notice board outside the shop. If we are closed, then please follow signage guidance on arrival at the campsite.

Pre-booked pitches

If circumstances beyond your control prevent you from arriving within reception times, we’ll leave your welcome pack at the reception entrance for you to collect. It will contain all the information you need to settle in for your stay. Please contact us on 019467 23253 if you have any problems or queries and staff will do their best to assist.

Departure times

Please leave by 10am on your day of departure. If you wish to stay an extra night, please ask at reception before 10am (reception is open from 8am every day).

Minimum stay

There is a minimum two night stay at weekends and for all advanced bookings. A three night minimum stay applies at Bank Holidays.

Parking

Unlike our other campsites in the Lakes, parking is provided on your pitch next to your tent or campervan unless you’re camping on the car-free meadow. Parking for car-free meadow is now behind the pods, just over the bridge from the meadow field.

Dogs / pets

Dogs are welcome on site (maximum of two per party), but please notify us at the time of booking.

At Eskdale, dogs are allowed inside standard pods only. Dogs must be always on leads and cleaned up after.

Quiet please

We ask that our visitors are considerate to their neighbours at all times, but ‘quiet please’ between 10pm and 7am.

Pitches

Please leave at least six metres between tents and campervans (including any awnings)

Maximum occupancy

The maximum number of adults allowed in any party is four. This maximum applies whether you book together or separately. The only exception is for official groups such as Duke of Edinburgh or Scouts.

Occupation of pods is limited as follows:

Standard Pods - 2 adults and 1 child

Family Pod - 2 adults and 2 children

Plus Pods- 2 adults and 2 children OR 3 adults

Clubs, societies and other officially recognised groups

We may be able to accommodate these at certain times of year. The organiser should get in touch and provide some proof of group status when booking.

All group leaders must complete a group booking form - it is really helpful to have the detail of how many campers in the party and the number of tents and vehicles so that we can identify the best spot for your needs.

All group bookings must be made via the booking office and cannot be made online. Call our Bookings Team, Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm, on 01539 432733 or email your requirements. Please note that your group's booker must be at least 18 years of age.

Fires

For obvious reasons, campfires are not allowed, but barbecues are permitted. You are welcome to bring your own BBQ which should be raised off the ground and only use charcoal. We do not provide BBQs on site.Ask the campsite team for stones if necessary.

Safety

Cooking inside tents or pods is NOT permitted and can be lethal due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed in or around the pods, shop, and facility block.

Special requests

Special requests, including requests for adjacent camping pitches, must be indicated to us at the time of booking. We will always do our best to honour them but they cannot be guaranteed.

Complaints and feedback

Every reasonable care will be taken to ensure that the camping pitch, pod or bothy and also site amenities are presented to a high standard. Should you find any cause for complaint, please immediately contact one of the campsite staff, so that reasonable steps can then be taken to rectify the problem. National Trust will not normally make any refunds in respect of complaints made after the Visitor’s departure from the campsite if the Visitor did not make the problem or complaint known to staff during the Visitor’s stay. If you supplied an email address at the time of booking, a survey will be emailed to you for your comments after your stay. Alternatively, a comment form may be completed and left at the campsite reception. All complaints made after the Visitor’s departure should be made in writing by post or email to:
