Sacred medieval history at Mottisfont

At Mottisfont, appearances can be deceptive. The elegant and imposing country home conceals a much longer history, stretching back to medieval times.

A remnant of the times was revealed in 2013 when bookshelves were removed to reveal a 12th century stone basin. The basin or ‘piscine’ was used by Augustinian canons (priests) to wash sacred vessels.
With more than 800 years of history, Mottisfont reveals intriguing stories from across the ages.
