The Hinterlands of John Constable
Nat Young has undertaken a painterly wander through the Stour valley and has made some wonderful paintings as a response to the landscape.
He writes; ‘To be asked to paint for an exhibition that was relevant to the River Stour in the middle of John Constable country was an invitation not to be missed. It was a challenge to come out of a comfort zone and paint something local rather than the wild areas that I am more accustomed to - such places as the Northern Dales, or the wildness of the Lake District mountains.
This was an uplifting experience using drawings and memory- a visceral response as well as a cerebral one.’
On until 24th June.
