Latest visiting update

Our gardens, parks, cafés, shops and countryside locations are open. Many houses are also open to visit. Advance booking for visits helps us keep everyone safe and socially distanced. At quieter times such as weekdays, booking shouldn't be necessary, but to guarantee entry we recommend booking in advance, especially at weekends and bank holidays.

Things to see and do

A formal pond and statue with reflections, surrounded by tree and a blue sky

The gardens at Goddards

Discover the five acres of garden rooms of the former Terry family home with views over York racecourse towards the iconic Terry factory clock tower. The small space has formal areas of lawn, ponds and herbaceous borders, surrounded by mature trees and a wildlife area. See what's growing in the orchard and small vegetable garden - you can imagine living here and making the most of this pocket of green.

Visit with confidence

We’re delighted to have secured the official “We’re Good To Go” mark, a brand new industry standard created by Visit England to help identify businesses that are ready to safely reopen. “We’re Good To Go” recognises the tireless effort our staff and volunteers have made to safely reopen the places in York and reassures everyone who visits us that we follow government guidelines.
