Retail therapy this summer
Looking for something different from the regular high street shops? Visit Hinton Ampner’s shop this summer for a range of unique gifts. We stock a variety of presents and treats, as well as items for the home and garden. There is always a great mix of local products as well from our National Trust favourites.
Shopping for a special gift? Our exclusive National Trust range ‘Valleys to Headlands’ takes inspiration from wildflower trails and wooded valleys that lead to the coast, to create a collection bursting with spring colour.
Here at Hinton Ampner, we are committed to supporting local businesses as much as we can. A particular favourite is Long Barn Lavender. For over a decade, Long Barn has been growing and distilling lavender at their Hampshire farm, producing an exclusive range of wonderful aromatic beauty and bath products made entirely from natural ingredients.
Our plant centre is bursting with colour at the moment as we continue to range a variety of new plants. Grown by the National Trust at Lanhydrock Nursery, we are delighted to stock Salvia ‘Joy’. This hardy garden perennial offers beautiful, bi-colour hooded flowers of coral pink and blush pink, held over its aromatic grey-green leaves. Similarly aromatic is Salvia 'Peach Parfait', its peachy-cream flowers adding a delicate sense of elegance long into autumn.
For something a little more vibrant we have Salvia 'Nachtvlinder', its purple-plum velvet-like flowers attracting bees and other insects into your garden, while the fabulously-named Salvia 'Royal Bumble' is bursting with hot red flowers, contrasting beautifully with its dark purple-green stems. As the name suggests, bees will positively love it.
In the Hinton Ampner shop we also have a beautiful garden range with a unique print inspired by a sprig of oak leaves carved into a beam in the hall at Alfriston Clergy, the first property acquired by the National Trust in 1896.
That book you’ve always meant to read may be waiting for you in the well-stocked second-hand bookshop by the plant centre. Every penny taken here goes back to helping us with our projects and conservation work.
