    Helston Lodge is on the Penrose estate, right on the water’s edge at the head of Loe Pool - Cornwall’s largest natural lake. Cut off the sea by a broad shingle bar, the Loe is home to all sorts of wildlife and is known for its bird population. You can walk around it on a 10km circular trail to explore woodland, marshland and the coast, stopping halfway at the Stables Café. There are many other footpaths and bridleways to choose from.

    Helston town and Porthleven, the most southerly working port in Great Britain, are both no more than two miles away, with pubs, cafés and shops. A bit further away, explore the estate at Godolphin, with its historic house and garden. You have free entry to most National Trust places during your stay.

Discover the landscape around Cornwall's largest natural lake, on this 10km circular trail. Explore woodland, marshland and the coast, while keeping the lake in sight. Just after the halfway mark, stop and recuperate some energy at the Stables Cafe.

This multi-use level and well-surfaced path can be used by walkers, runners, horse riders, and users of mobility scooters, wheelchairs, pushchairs and bicycles. Wind your way through the Penrose woodland, taking in views of Loe Pool, from Helston's free Fairground car park, to the National Trust's, Stables Cafe.
