About Upper Booth Farm Campsite

Down a narrow, winding lane you'll find this simple, small but perfectly formed campsite. Nestled alongside Crowden Brook and beneath the iconic Kinder Plateau, with jaw-dropping views all around, it makes a brilliant base for exploring the wild and rugged High Peak Moors and the beautiful Hope Valley.

Sitting right on the Pennine Way, which passes through Upper Booth farmyard, this campsite is open seasonally from spring to autumn. The pitches are spread across two fields with two additional private camping areas alongside Crowden Brook, one suitable for a single small tent, the other for three medium tents. There is also the option of a camping barn which can sleep up to eight people, for those who prefer their tents with stone walls! Your four-legged friends are welcome to join in with your adventures too, with two well-behaved dogs allowed per pitch.

There is a shower and toilet block with underfloor heating at the centre of the campsite with a washing up area outside of it. There is a drying room for muddy boots, and our reception houses a small shop selling camping essentials, including charcoal.

Both the upper and lower fields are car free, with vehicles parked either at the edge of the upper field or in the car park near reception, and you are welcome to borrow a wheelbarrow to help ferry your equipment to and from your pitch. The upper field is also home to a handful of reinforced grass campervan pitches. Please note that we do not have chemical waste disposal facilities on site.

This site is all about the outdoors, from the views that you'll wake up to every morning to the woolly neighbors in the next field, and the living roof on our facilities block. Walkers will love being on the Pennine Way; and whether you're a fan of gentle strolls through the valley or keen to challenge yourself by heading up Jacob's Ladder to the Kinder Plateau, or up to Mam Tor and the Great Ridge, you'll be spoiled for choice. A short walk (approx. 2 miles) will also take you across fields to Edale with local pubs, cafés, and a village shop.

From Edale station you can take the train to Grindleford and discover the ancient woods, parkland and heather moorland of the Longshaw Estate, together with its award-winning café. Alternatively, you can take a scenic drive to the idyllic Ilam Park with its formal Italian Garden, views across to Thorpe Cloud and Bunster Hill, and walks through ravine woodlands. Or head west to explore the wonderful Lyme Park with its parkland and medieval deer herd, gardens, cycle trail, and the Crow Wood playscape.

Also in the vicinity is the wonderful Chatsworth House and gardens (which also has a farmyard and adventure playground that's wonderful for younger visitors) and the stylish spa town of Buxton, where you can wander the streets, stop for a bite to eat or nip into the myriad independent shops. Cake fans also shouldn't miss a trip to Bakewell, for obvious reasons. If caves are more your thing than cake, then Castleton has four amazing caverns that you can discover. When you stay with us at our campsites, funds from your holiday go back into looking after special landscapes and places like this for everyone.
