About Woodland Management

Come and visit the most wooded region in the country and help us with our management of this special place.

Help with our management of ancient woodland in the very place that inspired Octavia Hill to form the National Trust. Learn traditional woodland and habitat management skills such as rotational coppicing and selective thinning.

About the accommodation

Nestled in a secluded valley deep within the Kent Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and close to a Grade II listed oast house and former piggery, the bunkhouse is a converted farm building which has two bunk-bedded dormitories. There is storage for clothes under the bottom bunks. There are separate male and female toilets, and the building is centrally heated. The old courtyard provides the garden area which is grassed and has a fire site with barbecue and two picnic benches.

Facilities: garden, drying room, washing machine, tumble dryer, pay phone.

Bedding: Only mattress cover provided.
