A short walk from Lorna Doone Farm to Cloud Farm
This walk along the river is perfect for a summer stroll on a hot day. As you walk from Lorna Doone Farm discover for yourself what makes this valley so special.

Start:
Lorna Doone Farm, EX35 6NU
1
From the National Trust car park turn left marked Badgworthy Valley ½ on you left hand side and walk up the road.
(Immediately on your left hand side is a gate with a permissive path marked. You can choose to walk this riverside path by paying a toll which also brings you up to Cloud Farm).
Walk along the road for about 400 metres until you get to a bend in the road with a bridleway marked 'Badgworthy Valley' on your left hand side.
2
Follow this bridleway up river for 1km. At one point a ford needs to be crossed either by wading or stepping stones. Please take care as stepping stones can be slippery. Keep the river on your left hand side, crossing over a second stream through a gate and walk along a gently ascending green lane until you reach another gate. Pass through this gate and then soon start to descend until you reach a footbridge. Cross over it to Cloud Farm following the finger post to Oare Church. You are now on land cared for by the National Trust.
3
At the footbridge cross over to Cloud Farm.
Cloud Farm Campsite
During the summer months the campsite shop is open for ice creams, hot drinks and snacks.
4
From here please return the way you came by crossing back over the footbridge. (You can return a different way by not crossing over the footbridge and instead walking up to the farm house, and then turn left to take the farm track back down to Malmsmead. If you take this route upon reaching the road turn left, cross the stone bridge and follow the road around to the Lorna Doone car park). When the footpath reaches the road follow this downhill back to the car park.
