Doone Valley circuit
This valley, made famous by the novel Lorna Doone, was home to the villainous Doone family. Today this circular walk, some parts of which are along the bubbling river, is truely peaceful.

Start:
Lorna Doone Farm, EX35 6NU

From the main car park turn left onto the road and then after 25m turn right to follow the road uphill. (There is a permissive path marked on your left which has a toll but don't follow this).

After around 300 metres you'll come to a bridleway on your left take this to continue upstream with the river on your left hand side. Follow this for around 3km passing Cloud Farm campsite and the memorial to Richard Doddridge and then through Badgworthy Wood until you reach the site of the medieval village of Badgworthy.

At the medieval settlement the bridleway goes round to the right and up over Brendon Common. Follow this bridleway for 2km until you reach a crossroads.

At the crossroads turn right (signposted towards Malmsmead) and continue for around 2km until the bridleway reaches the road.

When you reach the road turn left.

Continue up the road about 200 metres until you reach a bridleway on your right hand side. Follow this and head into Southern Wood. Continue following this bridleway through the woodland.

When you reach the road please cross over it to get back to the car park.
