Easter egg hunts at Lydford Gorge

Family walking the railway path at Lydford Gorge, Devon

The Easter adventures in nature took place in 2022. Please check back nearer the time to find out what is coming up in 2023.

Easter adventures in nature

Our Easter trail runs from Tuesday 5 to Saturday 24 April 2022, between 10am and 4.30pm, with last entry at 4pm and costs £3 per child, so come and explore the natural beauty of Lydford Gorge.

Pick up your activity pack from the welcome team at the Devil's Cauldron entrance (EX20 4BH) then follow the bespoke trail around the orchard. Find and complete the 10 nature-inspired activities that are hiding along the way. Can you mix up a mud pie for an earthworm, try out a job as a honey bee, and get a feel for spring? Have fun completing all the activities and enjoy a Rainforest Alliance chocolate egg or an allergen-free alternative (where available).

Make a day of it with a spring walk in the gorge to see the wild flowers. There are longer and shorter walks available, all great for exploring a temperate rainforest that makes you feel like you're stepping back in time.

Dogs are welcome everywhere at Lydford Gorge, please keep them on a lead at all times.

The trail through the orchard runs over rough grass, with some steep slopes and a couple of steps, making it unsuitable for buggies. Sturdy footwear is essential for a hike through the gorge.

The Devil's Cauldron tea-room will be open for drinks and snacks. The second-hand bookshop is a great place to pick up a new book and take a look at some nature finds from the gorge.
