This steep-sided river gorge nestled on the western edge of Dartmoor has been drawing visitors in search of the picturesque since Victorian times and before. During winter (November to February) other paths are shut for safety and maintenance.
Take an easy stroll along the line of the old Great Western Railway. Takes around 30 minutes but leave time to spot the woodland birds from the hide.
Descend into the gorge to find the towering Whitelady Waterfall. Takes around an hour on mostly good paths with some uneven steps.
