Spring at Lytes Cary Manor
There are signs of new life and fresh growth in all corners of Lytes Cary Manor this spring. With Easter to look forward to, there is lots to see and do this season.
Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt
Hop along to Lytes Cary Manor over the Easter weekend, follow the clues of the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt and be rewarded with a delicious Cadbury chocolate treat.
Sights and sounds of spring
A sea of blue flowers along the drive way announces the arrival of spring. The camassias create an impressive sight, with the blue flower exploding outwards like a firework. You can spot daffodils, crocuses and fritillaries in the garden; and the leaves on the trees on the Lime Avenue will be starting to unfurl, creating a lovely walk down towards the estate from the Manor. The tenant farmer's sheep will be lambing, so you may catch a glimpse of the newborns taking their first unsteady steps. Follow the White walk for a gentle meander around the estate – it is named for the blossoms that will be emerging at this time of year.
Eating al fresco
Why not make the most of the season by enjoying a picnic? The double cherry orchard within the Arts and Crafts inspired garden is a lovely spot to lay out a rug amongst the juvenile trees. There are also benches at the turning circle where you can munch your sandwiches and appreciate beautiful views up towards the entrance of the manor.
Easter holiday activities
Throughout the Easter holiday you can head down to the woodland walk with the family and follow the Explorers' trail to find out more about the animals that lived at Lytes Cary.
The conservation team carry out a spring clean of the house every day: dusting, vacuuming and checking things like heaters and monitors. After making sure everything is spick and span, you can smell the fire and enjoy the satisfying crackle of it burning; take a seat and be enveloped by its warmth.
Normal admission applies unless otherwise stated, but do ask at reception upon arrival if you have any questions about what is happening during your visit.
