Leap into spring

Celebrate the Leap Year – it coincides with a seasonal change in Lytes Cary Manor’s opening times.

With poor weather forecast again for the weekend, unfortunately the Ranger event has been cancelled – keep an eye on the website and facebook page though, as it will be rescheduled soon.

You can still come and visit – there's plenty going on for nature here! Did you admire the newly-laid hedge as you came up the drive? This traditional practice prolongs the life of the hedge and encourages the growth of new shoots.

But you’ll also see some hedges are left long to provide blossom and, later in the year, fruit to support wildlife. The hedges are both larder and habitat; dense growth helps birds find a secret place to nest and raise this year's young.

The garden is starting to come to life after the winter; there are daffodils and crocus to cheer the heart inbetween the showers. There's exciting new plant stock in the shop, so maybe it's time to start thinking about your own garden; and it's not long till you can plant your own soaring sunflower on the Help a Plant to Grow weekend.

And don't forget, the tea-room can provide a warm welcome whatever the weather!
