Eating at Mottisfont
The Old Kitchen Café is open from 10am-4.30pm daily, serving hot and cold drinks, light snacks, lunches and cakes. You can enjoy takeaway with plenty of tables outdoors, or there's some limited indoor seating.
The Old Kitchen Café is located on the lower floor of the house, accessible via a one-way route through the Cellarium. We've put up signage to help direct you, and our welcome team will be able to help if you're not sure where to go.
We've introduced new measures to help keep everybody safe. You'll find one-way queueing systems for placing and collecting orders. There are protective screens at the till and collection points, and hand sanitiser available. We can only accept card payments, contactless whenever possible.
We're serving soups, one pots, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, cakes, snacks and drinks. We're now able to offer some indoor seating here. If there’s space available, our friendly hosts will guide you to a table; you may be asked to wait a moment while we make sure the facilities have been cleaned between customers.
We have limited the number of tables to make sure everyone is seated at a safe distance. There are plenty of tables outdoors on the east lawn if you’re not able to sit inside.
In line with government guidance for Test and Trace, we'll need to take some details from you if you choose to sit indoors. If you're National Trust members we can simply scan your cards; if not, we'll make a note of your contact details. This information is stored securely for Test and Trace purposes only, for 21 days after your visit.
Visitors to the Old Kitchen Café are required to wear a face covering at the till point, unless exempt. Please bring one along with you.
Kitchen Garden Kiosk and Jude's ice cream
When weather permits, an additional refreshment kiosk will be open in the Kitchen Garden from 11am, serving open for drinks, light bites, cakes, ice cream and snacks. We'll also be serving scoop ice cream on weekends from a Jude's horsebox located at the top of the main driveway near the walled gardens.
What to expect
We need to keep everybody safe, so we're only able to offer a limited selection of food at the moment. We're still serving up delicious homemade treats, but social distancing guidelines and a limited kitchen space means that we're not able to prepare many of the meals you may be used to seeing on our menu.
If you have dietary requirements you may prefer to come prepared, as with a limited offer we can't guarantee that we'd have what you need. We do have a small range of gluten and dairy-free food available, and soya or oat milk for hot drinks.
We're serving all our food on plant-based disposable tableware, all of which is composted or recycled. You're welcome to picnic in the grounds where it's safe to do so - there is some limited seating near the kiosk, and we have spaced out a number of picnic tables in the paddock areas.
The Coach House Café remains closed for now.
We look forward to welcoming you back, and know that you’ll support us to make this a safe experience for everyone - thank you.
