Bring a loved one with you to enjoy 2-for-1 entry for paying visitors (free for National Trust members) on Thursday 14 February.

Take a romantic stroll through the gardens on Valentine's Day

Lanterns line the start of the river walk, where snowdrops blossom. Our gardeners have crafted hearts using cuttings from the lime walk to decorate the pathways, creating a ‘lover’s walkway’.

As you wander through the grounds, you’ll spot the first signs of spring bulbs. And the winter garden glows with colour at this time of year, from bright bark, berries, fruit and perennials. 'Streams’ of early spring bulbs echo the flow of the water from the adjacent font, while sweet-scented daphnes, wintersweet, witch hazel and viburnum all contribute to a subtle fragrance.

As a memory of the day you can take some seeds home, to plant somewhere special to you.

Relax in one of our cafés

Our bakers have created a heart-shaped sharing shortbread, just enough for two. There are other sweet treats and delicious drinks on offer – or make it a lunch date with one of our seasonal dishes.
