Visiting Mottisfont with your dog

West highland white terrier being taken for a walk. Mottisfont, Hampshire

We love dogs and they're more than welcome to explore the gardens and estate with you. While dogs are welcome in most places we ask that you keep dogs on a short lead at all times while you visit, so that everyone can enjoy their time with us.

Walking etiquette

There are plenty of walks around the gardens and wider estate for you to enjoy with your canine companion. However, there are a few places just for humans: please don't bring your dogs inside the house or shop, into the rose gardens or on to the formal lawns behind and in front of the house.

Inside the Old Kitchen and Coach House Cafés is for humans only too, but there are outdoor seating areas for both where four-legged friends are very welcome. There are sheltered spaces from the weather and water bowls for refreshment.

You'll receive a map on arrival at the Welcome Centre which will show you where dogs are welcome and where you can find bins for your doggy do. You can also download the map below to take a look before you visit.

Further afield

Our estate is the perfect place to explore and roam more freely. If you fancy a longer walk with your dog (off the lead), visit nearby Spearywell wood.

The woodland is a 3 minute drive (15 minute walk) from the visitor car park. Spearywell wood has a car park and is signalled with markers offering a short or longer walk (up to 3 miles) - please ask a member of the Visitor Reception team for more information and directions. Or, why not try the whole estate walk?
