Shopping at Mottistone Gardens
Coronavirus has changed many things and one of those is that our shop at Mottistone is now closed.
Located in an ancient Tudor barn, our shop at Mottistone Gardens is the perfect place to find that special gift. Stocked with an array of National Trust products and plants, there’s everything you might need either during your visit, for exploring further or just as a reminder of your day.
Spoilt for choice
Food, gifts, homeware, plants, books……there’s not much that we don’t have in our shop. Cards and calendars line the walls, and sales even spill out into the gardens where you’ll find our plants and second-hand books.
For special gifts, soft scarfs, aromatic candles, and pretty bags always make beautiful presents. Sweet tooths, meanwhile, can indulge in our award winning jams, chutneys and curds, as well as luxury biscuits and confectionery.
The Isle of Wight has a rich history of unique producers too, so you'll find the Island's own Mermaid gin and other spirits from the Isle of Wight Distillery, as well as beers from Goddards, the oldest brewery on the Island.
Our stock changes seasonally to reflect the shifting landscape and time of year. Our items are inspired by the special places that we look after and designs are influenced by the natural environment. This spring our designers have been inspired by rivers and their surrounding landscape. Our 'Riverlands' theme explores the rivers in our care and the work that is done to keep them healthy, clean and rich in wildlife.
We may not stock every item you see in these photographs, but anything we don’t have is available online, at https://shop.nationaltrust.org.uk/.
Something for inside and out
Create a heritage inspired home with warm throws and cosy blankets, or fill your kitchen with our quirkily designed ceramics and accessories. Being part of the gardens, our shop has plenty for those inspired by their visit. You can grow your own with our plant kits, and tidy your garden with a range of tools and essentials.
There are many footpaths across the wider Mottistone Estate with spectacular sea views from the downs above the gardens. Maps and walking guides will help you navigate them, or for a relaxing stroll, pick-up a comfy rug and have a picnic along the way.
Young explorers to Mottistone will find plenty of ways to make even more of their day. We’ve games to play and books to read, as well as lots of extras to help you tick off some of your 50 things challenges.
Plant a piece of Mottistone
Whether you're a keen gardener or just enjoy pottering around, don't forget to have a look at the plant sales area by the entrance to the tea garden. Some of the plants on sale are propagated at Mottistone, in peat-free compost, by our gardening team, whilst others are supplied by the Hairy Pot Plant Company from Hampshire in biodegradable pots. The selection changes seasonally to reflect what’s growing in the garden at the time, and means that you really can take a little bit of Mottistone home with you.
