It’s a slog for little legs up that long straight path! Why not hop off half way to take in the wildflower meadows, a riot of colour in the summer months. Can you spot a wild orchid?

Cyclists on the Carriageway path to Obelisk Lodge at Nostell

You made it to Obelisk Lodge! This was the original entrance to Nostell’s estate and you’ve just cycled along the route that would have been used to bring guests to the house by horse and cart. Turn left to try out the green route; once you go through the gate, the path’s for bikes only.

Wind your way around sweeping bends under canopies of trees; some of those chicanes are tighter than they look!

This is a real test of your cycle skills. Steer your way down the zig zag paths until you reach the bottom and head through the gates – you’ve done it; green trail complete! Turn left through a second gate and follow the path straight on.

If you’re lucky, you might spot a heron or even a kingfisher as you cycle past the lake on your right. In spring, the woodland path will take you through carpets of bluebells. Once you get to the junction at the end of the path, turn left to head all the way back up to Obelisk Lodge.
