What to expect from your visit to Packwood

View of Packwood from the road

The parkland, garden (excluding the kitchen garden), café (with some limited indoor seating), shop, house (Friday-Tuesday) and toilet facilities at Packwood are now open (normal opening times apply). To ensure the safety of our visitors, staff and volunteers we've reduced the number of people we can welcome at one time. To avoid disappointment please book in advance, especially at busier times such as weekends and bank holidays. However, where space is available on weekdays, pre-booking may not always be necessary. In this article you’ll find everything you need to know about what's open and what to expect from your visit. Please remember that dogs on leads welcome in the car park and on public footpaths across the estate, only assistance dogs are allowed in the garden.

Parking and arrival

Please have your tickets, membership card and booking reference close to hand as you arrive. We've set up a welcome point with our friendly team just as you enter the car park, to check your booking and welcome you onto site. There are designated Blue Badge spaces available for pre-booked tickets if required.

Please arrive within your half-hour timeslot, to help maintain social distancing. If you’re more than 10 minutes late for your arrival slot then entry will be at the discretion of the property team. You’re welcome to stay as long as you like until closing time at 5pm.

Staying safe

To help keep everyone safe, please follow social distancing and government guidance when you visit. Look out for signs while you’re here which will explain any changes to how you can access different parts of the site. There is a one-way route in place throughout the garden with arrows to guide you.

You’ll find sinks for hand washing in the available toilets.

If you’re showing any of the symptoms of coronavirus, or if you've been in contact with anyone that has the virus in the last 14 days, please don’t visit.

House

The doors to the house have now re-opened (Friday-Tuesday), the blinds are up, the clocks are wound, and visitors can once again come and enjoy the house. Things are a little different at the moment, but we still have our downstairs rooms open for you to explore. Our volunteers are here to welcome you and share stories about the history of the house and collection.

Please be aware that your pre-booked ticket is to visit the site as a whole and is not a timed ticket for the house. The house is closed on Wednesday's and Thursday's, access to the house is on a first come first serve basis and track and trace for every member of a group is now a legal requirement.

Facilities

Toilets - including access and baby change facilities are available in the barnyard, with queues marked to maintain a safe one in/one out system. These are sanitised by our team throughout the day.

Food and Beverage - Our café is now open serving a range of hot and cold food and drink and a limited amount of indoor cafe seating is now open. We’ve introduced new safety measures including screens at our till, collection points and waymarked routes. In line with government guidelines you'll be required to wear a face covering in our café.

Shopping at Packwood - The shop here at Packwood is located in the New Build and is now open daily from 9am-5pm.

Accessibility

The gardens have some gravel paths and uneven areas but all the paths are suitable for wheelchairs. During this time, we are unable to provide wheelchair hire

Dogs

Dogs on leads welcome in the car park and on public footpaths across the estate. Please note many of our walks are dog friendly, however please note only assistance dogs are allowed in the gardens.

Help support key workers

To say thank you to our nation's key workers and all they have done for us, we're encouraging visitors to keep the first and last slots of each day free for key workers to use. While we are unable to 'reserve' these slots exclusively for key workers, we hope you will join us in thanking them by leaving these times free. If you or someone in your group are a key worker, please take the opportunity to book these early and late timeslots.
