As the nights draw in and the leaves and start to fall and the clocks go back, Rowallane is the place to be.
Head out on a self-led adventure and make the most of the color in the garden, wildlife spotting, and fungi hunting. Our garden is open from 10am to 6pm each day.
Heritage Open Day

Vist a number of National Trust attractions free of charge today, including Rowallane Garden. Get an insight into the heritage and conservation of the amazing places right on your doorstep.
Autumn Plant Fair
30 September 11am-4pm.
Browse through the specialist plant stalls and glean some gardening hints and tips from our expert gardening team. Rowallane’s Head Gardener, Averil Milligan remarked ‘Autumn is a fabulous time to move plants when the soil is still warm and the growing season is closing down. Plants get a chance to settle down with as little stress as possible and will grow well next spring’. Round off your visit by popping into the Café for a hot cup of tea and a warming bowl of soup beside.
Natural Tea Blending
30 September 11am-2pm
Tea is a really great source of antioxidants which have the power to ward off disease and neutralize naturally occurring that damage throughout the body. Research has shown that high antioxidant intake from food can decrease one's risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's disease and more. Pop into Rowallane Garden for an insight into natural tea blending where the specific health benefits will be revealed and taste some of our own Garden blends using herbs to create infusions.
Ghosts and Gourds Spooktacular
21-22 October, 11am-5pm
Take the terrifying ghost trail, say boo to the sinister characters from Premiere Circus and see your little monsters transformed with some fearsome, freaky face painting. Don't escape without beheading and carving your very own pumpkin to take home and ward away the evil spirits. Additional Cost for trail £1.50
and pumpkin £3.00.
Poison Chocolate Apple Dunking
28 October - 5 November, 11am-3pm
Pop into the café for terrifying family fun. Your little witch or wizard can dunk their apple into molten chocolate and take their treat home while you sit back and enjoy one of our bonfire lattes and ghoulish treat.
Hallowe’en Ghost Trail
21-29 October, 11am-5pmGet goosebumps as your imagination explores strange and spooky sights in our ghastly ghost trail in the garden. Follow the pointers along the way, what’s that moving in the bushes and tree, a suspicious creature just passed by your knees. Submit your clues and claim your treat. Additional Cost for trail £1.50.
