In the footsteps of Stanley Spencer
An exhibition of work by 2018 Sky Landscape Artist of the Year, Jen Gash, inspired by her journey through the countryside of Macedonia, following in Stanley's footsteps.
Wednesday 16 - Sunday 27 October
In 2018 the Imperial War Museum commissioned a new artwork based on the Madedonian landscape; in particular, Kosturino ridge which was the site of a significant battle in December 1915.
This commission was offered as a prize to the winner of the Sky Landscape Artist of the Year competition. Winner, Jen Gash, travelled to Macedonia in the autumn of 2018 and her finished painting now hangs in the Imperial War Museum, North.
Jen created many other pieces of work during this time and this unique exhibition provides new 'eyes' into the landscape of Macedonia, old and new, as she followed in the footsteps of Stanley Spencer.
Admission free. Usual chapel entry charges apply; National Trust members, free.
