Deep Dive into Paintings and First World War Poetry

Come and join us for an immersive deep dive into a Stanley Spencer painting, followed by a First World War poetry reading. Each painting talk and poetry reading lasts approximately 15 minutes.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Once a month, visitors are invited to join us for a special short talk exploring one individual painting in depth, led by one of our experienced Chapel Stewards. This exclusive 15 minute session offers insight into Stanley's distinctive painting style, his artistic inspiration, and the wider context of the work within the Chapel.

Following the talk, visitors can enjoy a unique and moving experience as poetry by First World War poets is read aloud in the Chapel, bringing further reflection and atmosphere to the setting.

Painting talks are at 11.30, 12.30, 1.15 and 2.15 with poetry at 11.45, 12.45, 1.30 and 2.30
