Autumn adventures at Springhill

Placeholder Image

Visit Springhill on Sunday 2, 9, 16 and 23 October from 12-4pm for some awesome autumn fun! You will have the opportunity to see the house dressed for Harvest, crunch a few leaves along the walks, find the missing scarecrows and explore the estate on a guided garden tour.

Harvest house tours

See the house decorated for Harvest and learn about how the Lenox-Conyngham family would have celebrated this festival. The house guides will be dressed in historic costume and you will learn about who worked on the site nearly 200 years ago. Discover what the Lenox-Conyngham family harvested since they first set foot on the Ballydrum site.

Autumn guided walks

Springhill’s autumn colours are a beautiful sight, not to be missed. Take the opportunity to see the golden and russet tones around the estate while the kids continue to tick off their ‘50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾’. Experience Springhill in a whole new light as our outdoors team will be running a number of guided walks throughout the day. You’ll also get the opportunity to see the community allotments at the end of every tour.

Scarecrow Trail

The little ones will love exploring the estate to find all the missing scarecrows. Come along to join the search and vote for your favourite scarecrow. Special thanks to Desertmartin Primary School, Tiny Treasure Day Care, Moneymore Primary School, Belle Chevelure Hairdressers, Springhill Volunteers, Holy Family Primary School Magherafelt, Cookstown Primary School and Cottage Rose Florist for creating the Scarecrows for the trail.

New Barn Café

Enjoy some tasty treats in the new Barn Café at Springhill. Visitors can enjoy autumn mushroom soup with homemade wheaten bread and apple crumble with ice cream. We’ve got free Wi-Fi too so Mum and Dad can catch up on the latest news and sit back while the kids enjoy the colouring in station. If you fancy a cosier spot, why not visit the new undercover picnic area in the Dovecote? Visit the Well-Read Bookshop to pick up some essential reads to see you through the autumn and winter. The Drying Yard Nursery will also be open to allow visitors to stock up on some winter shrubs and bedding plants.
