A Lake District Victorian Journey

Tourists at Pier Cottage

We've put together a fantastic itinerary for groups looking to see the best of the beautiful Lake District by water, rail and road. Experience a grand Victorian circular tour from the 1860's in the present day.

Step back in time and retrace the steps of Victorian and Edwardian tourists on an adaptation of one of the original Furness Railway tours in the Lake District.

On this whole day tour with an expert guide, you and your group will experience the unique landscape by various modes of transport.

The journey starts off at the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway where you'll take a ride on a steam train to Lakeside. Here you'll hop aboard a Windermere Lake Cruises 'Steamer' to Bowness and then a minibus awaits to take you across to the National Trust's Claife Viewing Station. Stop off for a Ferryman's picnic lunch overlooking Lake Windermere. Then travel by minibus along the old route taken by horse-drawn carriages to Coniston Pier. Finish your tour on a full lake cruise onboard a rebuilt Victorian steam yacht on Coniston Water, where you'll have the opportunity to steer the yacht from the helm and enjoy a glass of fizz and cake in the elegant saloons.

This tour is available for advanced bookings from 1 April - 31 October for groups of min. 8 people, max. 30 people. Booking is required four weeks in advance. £110per person including all transport, fizz and cake onboard Steam Yacht Gondola.
