Soak up the atmosphere as the courtyard springs into life with our celebration of fantastic local produce.

 

 

 Visit The Argory on Saturday 6 April for The Good Food Market from 11am until 4pm. The historic courtyard will be filled with a number of artisan food stalls selling everything from chutneys and jams, homemade cupcakes and fudge, soda bread, pesto, cheeses, local meats, chocolates, cider and home grown produce.

 

The Argory will also play host to not one but two special cookery demonstrations from Uluru Bar & Grill Chef Christopher Black and Owner, Chef of The Moy Larder, Sheena Kelly.

Chris has been a chef at Uluru Bar & Grill in Armagh City centre for 6 years.  At 25, Chris is a young, experienced and innovative chef who is passionate about food. During his time at South West College in Dungannon, he competed in the Student Culinarian Northern Ireland competition at IFEX in 2014, and won with a gold ‘Best in class’.  He believes if you have fantastic local produce and keep it simple, you can’t go wrong.  He looks forward to showing you his dishes and hopes to inspire you to shrug the ready-made meals and take-aways, take his lead, and cook something fresh and tasty at home. Chris will be preparing a main dish plus dessert championing local ingredients and visitors will have the opportunity to taste the dishes.

Sheena purchased The Moy Larder in March 2016, and with an extensive renovation carried out in January 2018 The Larder was given a fresh look and now incorporates an art gallery of local artists work. They pride themselves on producing fabulous homemade food, using local suppliers like neighbouring McKearney’s Butchers, and therefore the freshest produce possible. Their brunch is famous around these parts, which means that they are a buzzing, cosy café especially on Saturday and Sunday. Having a dedicated baker in house also gives them the edge on all things sweet and they now serve Afternoon Tea with all the homemade treats you could imagine, perfect for special occasions.

Sheena will be encouraging you all to have a go at making fresh pasta and will then create dishes from this, allowing you to taste the difference in the quality and taste compared to dried pasta.

Mary's famous BBQ will be in place on the day for the whole family to enjoy and the Courtyard Coffee Shop will be in full swing, making your favourite caffeine creations to accompany your chosen home-baked treat. Light lunches are available, if it's a little chilly outside there's warming soup served with home-made wheaten bread, if the sun's out there's ice-creams for all!
