A new read to help us plant seeds

A shelf full of books

Our new Second-hand bookshop is a warm and welcoming spot to peruse after a walk in the garden.

The closing of our small pop-up shop last year meant we had a small room at our disposal. Our second-hand books have always been a popular touch at The Weir so it made perfect sense to relocate our book sales from the tea-tent into this little room. This will offer visitors a warm and sheltered spot to view our book collections whilst visiting The Weir. Opposite the tea-tent it’s the perfect spot to grab a brew and search for a good read.

All of the proceeds from our bookshop will go straight back into the upkeep of the garden so by purchasing a good read you are helping us plant seeds and continue to maintain this special place. We also greatly welcome any donations whether they be in the form of books, CDs or DVDs, please consider donating to us during your post-Christmas clear out.

Our fundraising goal this year is to raise enough funds to sympathetically repair the Foster & Pearson glasshouse in the walled garden. At almost one hundred years old the time has come to finally replace the worn floor and repair the rotting wooden frames. Through your support by visiting our little second-hand book shop and purchasing a book or buying a raffle ticket whilst here, you’re directly contributing towards maintaining this lovely feature in the garden for all future generations to enjoy.
