Enjoy an autumnal walk by the river
It’s just too easy as the weather gets colder to huddle up inside with a cup of hot cocoa to hand. It’s also just too easy to miss the magical colours, sights and smells autumn can bring.
That special window of time when the leaves have changed colour on the trees and the days are full of sunshine and crisp air is upon us. Before long, the jewel coloured leaves will drop to the floor, showering The Weir Garden with a crunchy carpet that pleases the young and old alike.
Autumn really is a time of simple pleasures at The Weir Garden. It’s not just the seasonal riverside garden but the wonderfully nostalgic harvest that takes place in the walled garden, is there anything better than running your hands over a freshly picked pumpkin or the nodules of a rather exotic looking squash?
Autumn is a season that should be spent outside, enjoying the final days of sunshine and breeze before the long winter kicks in. You’ll feel much better for pulling out your old, favourite knitted jumper and getting outdoors where nature is very much still at work.
The glasshouse looks incredibly different in the autumn time. The shelves that played home to the masses of Dahlias and Succulents in the summer now hold hundreds of onions left out to dry before stringing and a huge amount of pumpkins waiting to be carved by eager children.
Enjoy an autumnal walk by the riverside this autumn at The Weir Garden and discover a different pace of life at this special place. Every time you visit to enjoy the seasons, you help us keep the garden alive, come rain or shine.
