- Bookshop
Grab yourself a pre-loved book, a cup of coffee from our café and enjoy a comfortable seat in what used to be the Laundry.
- Café
Overlooking the stunning South Downs and with views as far as the Solent, enjoy light bites and a brew with a spectacular view!
- Car park
Open from 09.30am until 4.15pm. This car park is chargeable for non-National Trust members but free for members. Signage on site displays charges.
- Cycle parking
Cycle racks are available in our main car park. Alternatively you are free to bring your bike into the gardens with you but we do ask that you dismount for the safety and enjoyment of other visitors.
- Dogs allowed
Dogs are allowed everywhere on site on short leads except the tunnels and main house. Assistance dogs are permitted throughout the site.
- Electric vehicle charging point
4 x 11kW electric vehicle charging points are available in the top level of the main car park. Chargers can be accessed using mobile app, RFID card, or contactless payment device. Visit our EV charging provider RAW Charging’s website to download the app in advance of your visit. Chargers are only available to visitors during property opening hours.

- Guided tour
Our house is currently open for Guided Tours only with tickets available at Visitor Reception but these will be handed out on a first come first served basis.
- Picnic area
We have a dedicated shaded picnic area adjacent to our Visitor Reception and near to the car park and to the East of the Mansion overlooking the South Downs. Alternatively you are welcome to bring your own blankets and picnic throughout the garden and meadow.
- Toilet
Toilets are available at Visitor Reception or in the Tunnels (via the café seating area). Our accessible toilet is inside our Second-Hand bookshop. Baby changing is available in all our toilets except those by Visitor Reception.

- Cycling
- Cycle parking is available in the car park, or bikes are welcome in the gardens once dismounted. Uppark House and Garden is located in beautiful countryside ideal for more experienced cyclists. It is close to both the South Downs Way and King Alfreds Way, two popular off-road cycling routes. Plan your route to Uppark House and Garden using the CycleStreets journey planner via the by cycling link below. (This journey planner uses OpenStreetMap data which is generally excellent but accuracy cannot be guaranteed. If you come to a footpath or other cycle-prohibited track, please don't ride on it).

- By bus
- Route 54 service. From Monday to Saturday, bus stop directly outside North Drive gates. We're also a part of the West Sussex County Council Book-a-Bus partnership, a flexible and on-demand bus service.

- Due to its high elevation Uppark is vulnerable to extreme weather conditions particularly in the winter months. This can lead to closure of the property at short notice. To avoid disappointment please check our website or social media channels for the most up to date information.

About Uppark House and Garden
Perched on its vantage point high on the South Downs ridge, Uppark commands views as far south as the English Channel. Outside, the intimate gardens are laid mostly to lawn with colourful and scented borders - perfect for picnics! The Wide Glade is now fully accessible after a recent conservation project restored the Repton Paths. To the South of the house is a vast wildflower meadow, sometimes playing host to grazing sheep to keep the ecosystem thriving. There are plenty of spaces to picnic and enjoy the view in your own time. The 17th-century house sits proudly in the centre of the property, a perfect doll's house! The house is open 3 days a week during the peak season with its Georgian interiors illustrating the comfort of life ‘upstairs’, in contrast with the ‘downstairs’ world of the servants. .
