Mummers' play at Dyrham Park
Come and see a traditional mummers' play in the new year at Dyrham Park. Holt Morris will be performing the mummers' play, an old English tradition often performed at Christmas time, which includes a fight between a hero and a traditional foe.

In the action, there is a fight between goody St George and the baddy, the Dark Knight of Winter. St George is killed. A doctor miraculously revives him and the Dark Knight is chased away. There are musical interludes, and various homilies are delivered by Father Christmas, Beelzebub and Old Father Time. Eventually the Dark Knight gets his comeuppance. This play is performed by Holt Morris, from the village of Holt in Wiltshire.

- Suitability
The event is open to all.
- Meeting point
The group will process around the courtyards near the tea-room and shop and perform outside the Tasting Kitchen.
- What to bring and wear
The play will all be outside so please wrap up warm.
- Accessibility
The site is steep and uneven in part. There is a shuttle bus from the car park to the bottom of the site where the mummers' play will be. The ground is cobbled there.

Christmas choirs and music groups at Dyrham Park
Local choirs and music groups are due to perform on weekends in the run up to Christmas in the village church of St Peter* which adjoins the estate. *Please note that the BathTub Orchestra on 22 Nov will perform outside on site.
