Exhibition: Tailoring an Image

Discover the fashion of Lord Fairhaven in this brand-new menswear exhibition in the house.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Dive into the world of mid-20th-century men’s fashion and bespoke tailoring in a new menswear exhibition at Anglesey Abbey this summer.

From 1 July to 31 October 2025, come and take a look at the numerous outfits, suits and accessories on display inside the house and learn more about Lord Fairhaven's fashion choices. Don't miss this chance to see a rare survival of bespoke 20th-century clothing, belonging to just one man.

Several of the outfits in this exhibition were handmade by H. Huntsman & Sons – an internationally renowned bespoke tailoring house with a sartorial legacy spanning over 175 years. They have a reputation for making the world’s finest handcrafted clothes for the most sartorially discerning individuals, including many commissions for the wardrobe of Lord Fairhaven. Come and see these items which are not usually on display at Anglesey Abbey.

As part of the exhibition, you can watch a specially commissioned film which takes you inside the Huntsman workshop on Savile Row and provides unique insights into the collection of menswear on display at Anglesey Abbey. The outfits will be mounted on mannequins and exhibited throughout the house. A series of accompanying talks and workshops will also form part of the exhibition. More information coming soon.

This 'Tailoring an Image' exhibition is free for National Trust members and visitors to Anglesey Abbey (normal admission applies). We look forward to welcoming you.
