Local artist and experienced teacher Ula Fung will guide you through some of the stand-out elements of Canaletto’s paintings, including his theatrical use of light and shadow, his striking baroque-style compositions that bring drama and movement to architectural scenes. The medium of Pen & Watercolour is a perfect way to learn and study the works of Canaletto in a workshop setting. In this workshop, participants will study how Canaletto designed his paintings - from his perspective and structure to his attention to atmosphere and apply them to their own studies using basic watercolour techniques and drawing techniques using a technical pen. Ula will begin the session with a short demonstration, teaching you some drawing and painting techniques. Within the workshop you’re likely to complete more than one work as you study the composition and content of Canaletto’s work. This workshop is perfect for those keen to learn and develop their skills while gaining insight into one of the great masters of light and composition. Knowledge required: Beginner friendly - all levels welcome.
Materials (all provided): Paper, acrylic paints and various mixed media.

Barn Rooms in the Stableyard which will be signposted on the day.
- What to bring and wear
Comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little paint on & a carrying bag for take your artworks home.
- Accessibility
The Barn Rooms are a short walk from the main car park. There are spaces close to the Barn Rooms for use by blue badge holders. There are some uneven surfaces and historic cobbles in and around the stableyard. Please note that this workshop takes place on the first floor of a historic barn, with no lift access.
