Solar observing with Kernow Astronomers

The experts from Kernow Astronomers are returning to Carnewas at Bedruthan. Everyone is welcome - whether you are a keen astronomer or simply curious to know and see more.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event

There’ll be a number of telescopes with filters to observe the sun safely in white light (daylight) to see the photosphere (or the sun’s surface) with its sunspots. There will also be hydrogen alpha telescopes which allow you to see the cooler hydrogen clouds - think weather on the sun. Astronomers will explain how and where to observe the upcoming August eclipse safely. The sun can change its detailed features on a 15-minute timescale which makes for an exciting spectacle. This Kernow Astronomers event is hosted by the National Trust. Please check for weather updates nearer the time.
