Start point
National Trust car park, Shaugh Bridge, near Shaugh Prior, grid ref SX533637
Step 1
From the car park next to the former china clay kiln, take the path starting at the notice board and head over the footbridge across the River Plym. You'll see the remains of the Ferro-Ceramic mine and brickworks directly in front of you.
Step 2
Follow the granite boulder pathway eastwards uphill. Stay on the path as it curves sharply round to the left and continues uphill for another 33yd (30m). Here, it levels out into the former granite quarry tramway. Follow the tramway track round the hill, passing a couple of quarries on your right.
Step 3
On reaching a fork in the track, don't go up the old tramway incline but keep left and head towards Dewerstone Cottage.
Step 4
Just before the cottage (the former counting house for the quarrying company), take the left-hand path down to the River Meavy. Continue along this path back to the car park.
End point
