Henrietta's Garden
Join us this year in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Henrietta Bankes’ vision of the Japanese Garden, filled with cherry blossom, bamboo and acers.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Experience the house and gardens in a new light and discover how Henrietta Bankes influenced and shaped the house and gardens as we see them today.
Find pictures and stories of the Japanese Garden restoration over the last 20 years, with photos of before and after the work was carried out and insights from the people who helped make it happen.
Enjoy the seasons changing as you're drawn into the heart of the Japanese garden and the blossom tree meadow along an avenue of lanterns.
As you enjoy the surroundings of the garden, collect and make your own keepsake postcard with a series of stamps that layer up to create a seasonal scene from the garden.
Inside the house, feel the presence of Henrietta. Her tea gown and wedding ring will be on display alongside some of the Japanese objects collected in her time, that may have inspired some of her choices in the original garden.
